It has been a remarkable resurgence for Irish budget airline carrier Aer Lingus – which saw its total number of passengers increase by an incredible 8.2 per cent during March.
In total, the airline carried 809,000 passengers during the month: helping it to achieve the sizeable year-on-year increase.
Long and short of the matter
Over the year to March, its total passenger numbers were also up by 8.2 per cent: reaching a total of 2.08million. The success can be attributed to both the long-haul and short-haul operations of Aer Lingus. Its short-haul passenger numbers were up by 6.2 per cent to reach 1.7million; while its long-haul passenger total increased by 12 per cent to 167,000.

Where to find cheap flights
Anyone looking to make travel and holiday plans for the summer should check out the travel and holiday voucher codes page to see what discounts are available.
Of course voucher codes aren’t the only way to save on flights. One of the keys to significant flight savings is simply timing: booking early will almost always pay off as business travellers will often pay high prices at the last minute to fill space on an aeroplane, so airlines will often hike their charges close to the flight date.
In addition, you can use comparison websites to find cheap, scheduled flights. Try to use at least two in order to ensure you’re getting the best possible deal: the likes of travelsupermarket, kayak and skyscanner are among the best. If you’re interested in booking a flight and a hotel at the same time then look to websites such as Expedia, Travelocity and Opodo. You could also check out Lastminute.com which sometimes offers discounts if a flight and hotel are booked together.
There are other ways to reduce prices of course. For example, if you’re a student, or even just under 26, then specialist youth travel agency STA Travel guarantees to beat any scheduled flight price from its rivals. There are also several ethnic travel agents that offer specialist cheap flights for certain ethnicities. You could also keep your eyes open for specialist deals: such as promotional flight sales (such as a flights for one euro – although you should check this includes taxes and other charges); and freebies on credit cards (just remember to pay your card off in full each month).
