Most of us are quite savvy when it comes to booking our holidays. We realise that it is likely to be the largest expense we make all year – and so we make sure we shop around for the best deals on flights, hotels and package holidays. However, could we be losing out on one of the most important holiday extras: holiday money?
While most of us know to shop around and ensure we’re getting the best rates whether we want dollars, yen, or something else, it seems that we might be missing out on the best deals because of the currency exchange providers themselves.
According to consumer group Which?, some providers are offering different rates at different branches across the country – meaning that if you walk into a holiday money store in one city; and then walk into the same store in another city; you may be offered two completely different rates.
The survey discovered that there were differences of up to 30 euros in the quotes being offered by the same provider in different cities – in exchange for £500.
Although some providers appear to be doing the right thing and are offering the same rate across the country, Which? is concerned that not everybody is getting the same rate. It states that while local competition may play a part in the rates set, it is unfair that some people are missing out on the best deals just because of where they live. It highlights that holidays do not come cheap and that currency providers should ensure their rates are consistent so that a fair deal is provided to customers.
Holiday deals you can bank on
While there may be controversy over holiday money rates, there are certainly some excellent holiday voucher codes to capitalise on if you use Moneysaver.ie.
With the summer season in full swing, holiday providers are bustling for business and there are some fantastic bargains out there. Or if you already have your holiday booked and just want to save on those extras, then act fast to take advantage of this Chemist Direct voucher code – it offers 10 per cent off all Ambre Solaire sun care products, but you must be quick as the offer expires this Friday, June 8.
