It may not be a good time for the Irish entertainment industry – but it is a good time to be a lover of entertainment in Ireland.
That’s because even though the media industry is lagging the global recovery because of the uncertain economic conditions on these shores, you can grab some of the hottest CDs, DVDs and other forms of entertainment at incredibly low prices.
Hard times…
According to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2010 saw a fall in the overall value of the entertainment and media industry in Ireland.
The decline comes on the back of reduced advertising spending with the market valued at $4.26billion – that’s down from $4.3billion in 2009. However, it is hoped that the market will grow over the next five years at an average rate of 3.5 per cent annually. Yet this will still be behind the global rate of growth at 5.7 per cent in each of the next five years.
Good times…
Despite the overall gloom, another part of the industry – consumer spending – has increased, thanks to online shopping.
Consumers have turned to internet shopping for the bulk of their purchases because it is often more convenient and cheaper than buying in store. However, prices can vary widely between retailers placing the emphasis on customers to compare rates before they buy and ensure they’re getting a good deal.
The newly re-launched Moneysaver.ie is not just a discount code website – although you can still find voucher codes for movies, music and more there. In addition, it also offers a price comparison service. All the consumer has to do is enter details of the product they want to buy and it will tell you the cost in euros from a range of retailers.
So if you want to find real value for money while boosting your entertainment choices, check out Moneysaver.ie now.
